Pech Petit - Cahors
Established in 1878, this 14 hectare estate near the village of Fages boasts 70+ year old Malbec vines grown on sidèrolithique (high iron content / orange color) soils. Fifth generation winemaker Sébastien Dauliac is making dark, ripe, sultry wines that are lively yet under-stated.
The imagery is reminiscent of the dark world of 1930s European cabaret, and that’s a fitting curtain call for the dark (black!), inky depths inside the bottle. Proprietor-winemaker Sebastien Dauliac has crafted another beguiling, dense, aromatic gem from his small Malbec vineyard in Cahors. The palate packs a mighty punch with hints of molasses and prunes with a dry, peppery finish.
