La Rangee du Cure - Cahors
Established in 1878, this 14 hectare estate near the village of Fages boasts 70+ year old Malbec vines grown on sidèrolithique (high iron content / weird orange colour) soils. Fifth generation winemaker Sébastien Dauliac is making dark, ripe, sultry wines that are lively yet under-stated.
The emphasis here is on the fruit, and the very tangible specificity of the terroir. The nose is fresh and farmy with lots of primary dark fruits and dried flowers, the color is very dark, the mouthfeel is fine and precise with firm but sleek tannins and delicious acidity.
